Why danish kaneria banned

Essex Police say they are "currently reassessing the investigation" following Kaneria's admission. Kaneria, who was banned from playing in England and Wales for life, says he "cannot live a life with lies". I lost everything," the leg-spinner told Al Jazeera. And to my wife and family - I have let them all down. Kaneria was found to have pressured Westfield - who was handed a four-month prison sentence - into agreeing to concede 12 runs during an over of a one-day game for Essex against Durham in Kaneria was banned for life and described as "a grave danger to the game of cricket" by the England and Wales Cricket Board ECB , who also banned Westfield for five years.

In , Kaneria told BBC Sport he had not pressured Westfield and said if given the chance, he would ask his former team-mate why he had chosen to "destroy" his career. In reflecting on his denial of the crime, Kaneria says the ill-health of his father around the time of the spot-fixing scandal had been an influence.

I mean no authority bans someone just because an other guilty player said so Kaneria has been victimised. Truth 5 years ago Reply Because you are jealous of Mohammad Amir.

Relax and watch him rip through Indian batsmen haha. Z 5 years ago Reply The trio were also charged, tried and punished in England. They came back because they plead guilty and apologized. Kaneria keeps denying the charges and plays religious discrimination card. Pure Ind 5 years ago Reply Well its a clear case of discrimination with Danish, surely one cant reason out why because repeated offenders like Asif are allowed back but not Danish??

Strange why this double standards may be as people claim that it might be due to his religion which is a minority?? Being non muslim in Pakistan and expecting equal rights is impossible. Even muslim cricketers like waism akram ,waqar younis ,saqulain mushtaq had to leave country. This should have left Pakistan long back.

One more human life wasted. Keyboard Soldier 5 years ago Reply He does not know how to play the game right. He should take life lessons from M. Summing up Kaneria's role, Elias said he exploited his position in the game. With regard to Westfield, Elias said consideration had been given to the evidence he provided to the hearing, his plea, and his agreement to help with educating cricketers to the danger of spot-fixing in the future, but added that if the offence had been committed in , the ban would have been nine years.

To the ECB's charge he pleaded guilty at the first opportunity and is entitled to significant credit for that. This sends a very clear message to everyone involved in the sport that corrupt activities will not be tolerated and those individuals who are alleged to have breached the ECB's anti-corruption regulations will be fully investigated and where appropriate made subject to the full ECB disciplinary process.

Both players were charged in April, in the wake of Westfield's imprisonment in February. Kaneria was implicated in spot-fixing during Westfield's trial at London's Central Criminal Court but denied the allegations. At the ECB hearing , which lasted for four days, Westfield gave evidence against Kaneria, revealing details about how the former Pakistan legspinner introduced him to an Indian businessman know as Arun or Anu Bhatt. Kaneria, who had been warned about Bhatt's alleged connections to illegal betting, admitted putting the two in contact but claimed he had been trying to distance himself from Bhatt.

However, phone records showed extensive contact between Kaneria and Bhatt in the days leading up to the September Pro40 match that Westfield accepted money to underperform in.

Kaneria's defence that Westfield was not a credible witness, due to his previous conduct, was also rejected. The disciplinary panel, which also included David Gabbitass and former England allrounder Jamie Dalrymple, concluded: "Danish Kaneria knowingly induced or encouraged Mervyn Westfield not to perform on his merits in the Durham match.

The panel were highly critical of Kaneria's evidence. As reported during the trial, Westfield was identified as a squad member susceptible to an approach.
