Why do people make things complicated
Overthink is correct, btw. We mistakenly believe it makes us sound smart when, in reality, it just makes us sound like babbling idiots. And so on. Image credit Tim Green via Flickr. Fix yourself! You know, it may even take professional help. Just do it! Want more bold life-inspiring and business-beefing ideas? I disagree, my method is right and you're wrong. Oh, wait, i see now. Sal This person is a verified professional. Daryl wrote: I could have done that with AWK Awk can be complicated by itself. When I came to the interview for the job I am in now, my boss asked if I was proficient with Awk.
I replied that I had used it frequently to reorder columns and do fast math, but I had never read the 7 -- yes SEVEN -- volumes of the programmer's reference guide.
When we took a tour of the computer room, we passed the IT reference library, and my boss actually counted the number of volumes. I got a job offer right there on the spot. Eighteen years later, I still haven't read all seven volumes of the reference guide, but you'd be surprised at how complicated you can get with something as seemingly simple as Awk.
Nice call, Daryl!! A lot of it seems like "Well if they know all these 14 steps they must know what they are doing, just doing that 1 step is half-assed" I dunno If you think that doing just 1 step instead of 14 is half-assed, I think chances are good you're only quarter-assed or, maybe on a good day, third-assed.
It is absolutely true that the step method steps 11 and 12 must be repeated for each column and row, with the formulas updated to reflect a new location will work, but why put yourself through that when the 1-step method could find all lines at least 1, times before I could finish typing all the formulas for the first row.

Or, maybe they all think the small piece they are looking at right now is the big picture?? Please send me a copy of that.
I can "awk out" the good parts and save myself steps, lol. I especially love when they pull up a record, change the key but don't click a button to load the next record. But that's only stupidity. So, in this hyper-stimulating environment, how do you get it back to simple? And, listen carefully to your answers.
With all tech off. The answers may surprise you. You can get our blog via email.
